Jake Brodsky was born and raised in Helena, Montana, a place with a rich ceramic history. He grew up using handmade pots every day, which profoundly informed his ideas of how pots can add to one’s home and life. He began seriously pursuing ceramics in his 20s through working at craft schools, community studios, and for other artists. Jake will receive his MFA degree in Ceramic Art from Alfred University in the spring of 2023.
Javaria Ahmad
https://www.instagram.com/javaria.ahmadd/?hl=en
Through her multidisciplinary art practice with ceramics as a major medium of work, Javaria Ahmad explores the ambivalent relation of everyday utilitarian objects and memory with traditional cultural practices that she observes in her surroundings. Her art practice examines a narrative of a middle-class domesticity as a physical and a metaphysical entity of unjust gender hierarchy for a South Asian woman. The meticulous process of her work replicates everyday routine that seems mundane yet mandatory. Her ceramic forms are recognizable at times, while abstract at the other times. She relates this idea of understanding her forms comparable to acknowledgement women of a stereotypical domesticity receive.
Paige O’Toole
https://www.paigeotoole.com/aboutme
Paige O’Toole is a ceramic artist from Garrison, New York. Focusing on the intersection of gender, space and the domestic, her work explores themes of memory through gesture, and illusion through perception. O’Toole’s mark in clay is both immediate and archival, lasting and tangible evidence of her insatiable touch. She is currently an MFA candidate at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and holds a BA in Art History and a BFA in Ceramics from State University of New York at New Paltz.
Rose Schreiber

Rose Schreiber holds an MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She is a researcher and writer for the Ceramic Materials Atlas, a storytelling and environmental humanities project linking global industry, environmental ethics, and contemporary ceramics. For her contributions to the Ceramic Materials Atlas, she has been awarded the 2023 inaugural Environmental Sustainability Fellowship from the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). The Ceramic Materials Atlas has also received funding from the Center for Craft as well as from the School for Global Environmental Sustainability at Colorado State University.
Prior to her current degree program, Rose completed an MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa. Past translation projects have focused on Latin American literature through an ecocritical lens. She strives to be an avid reader and writer, particularly of science and the environmental humanities. She is thoroughly vexed by the moral implications of contemporary ceramics, a field she questioningly loves.
